The Faculty of Engineering & Information Sciences invites you to celebrate the contribution of women engineers have had in shaping our world.

The theme for this event is Making a Difference, and we will explore ways in which engineers can make a difference in society and create a better world for future generations. Discussions will focus on renewable energy, sustainability, construction, biomedical engineering, and the skills shortage in engineering and why it is now more important than ever to attract girls and women into our engineering programs.

The keynote speaker for the event is Senator Mehreen Faruqi, Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens. Senator Faruqi holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Environmental Engineering.

Dr Faruqi will be joined by a wonderful panel of women engineers who will talk about their journeys and how they believe women can make a difference in engineering today:

  • Rochelle MacDonald (Executive General Manager – Operations, Squadron Energy)
  • Lauren North (Principal Sustainability Partnerships, BHP)
  • Michaela Brown (Senior Structural Engineer, ARUP)
  • Siobhan O’Brien (PhD student, Biomedical Engineering)

The event will be held in hybrid mode, both in-person at the University of Wollongong, Australia, and online
