Dr. Irhanida is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Postgraduate Studies at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College’s School of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts. With a background in Town and Country Planning, she transitioned into tourism research, earning a Master’s in Tourism Planning and a Ph.D. in the same field. Since 2009, she has been actively involved in academia and impactful research, collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, Penang Island City Council, and Think City Penang.
Her expertise lies in tourism planning and management, with a strong focus on sustainability strategies that drive economic growth. She is a certified trainer and a panel member of the Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) assessment. Additionally, she serves as an Internal Auditor for MyRA, a member of MyCEB, a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee, and an External Advisor for SEGi College Penang.
Her research interests center on tourism planning and management, particularly in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has secured multiple local and international research grants and collaborates with both local and foreign universities.
