Dr Apsara Jayasekara

Dr Apsara Jayasekara is a researcher in the Centre for Ironmaking Materials Research (CIMR) in the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) at the University of Newcastle. She received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka) in 2011 and a PhD degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Wollongong (Australia) in 2018. She is a former researcher in the Steel Research Hub at the University of Wollongong. Her research interests include understanding the effect of coke mineralogy on coke reactivity in the blast furnace with the ultimate goal of decarbonising the ironmaking industry.
