Ina Oestroem

Ina received her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry for the Federal Univeristy of Florianopolic (UFSC) in 2011, with the “Best Academic Records Award”. The last year of her BSc was completed studying at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). After her BSc, Ina spent 8 years competing in long-distance triathlons and working as an executive assistant in international triathlon events. She returned to academia for her Master’s at UFSC in 2017 and studied the physical nature of non-covalent interactions in Supramolecular frameworks employing Density Functional Theory (DFT). In 2020, she joined the UNSW Hoex Group as a UNSW Scientia PhD Scholar in the School of Photovoltaics and Solar Energy Engineering at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. Currently, she is using DFT calculations to rationally design low-cost catalysts for next-generation hydrogen fuel cells, and then synthesise the materials with atomic layer deposition (ALD).
