Parisa is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW), where her research focuses on privacy governance for mHealth and the development of practical privacy-enhancing approaches for digital health applications. Her expertise spans cyber security risk, governance, compliance, privacy, and analytics, with a particular strength in translating complex technical, regulatory, and operational issues into clear, actionable, and well-structured outcomes.
With extensive experience in both academia and industry, Parisa brings a distinctive combination of research depth, leadership, and practical expertise. Her work has included cyber security risk assessment, control design, structured reporting, remediation tracking, third-party security and privacy due diligence, vendor risk assessment, and evidence-based governance. She also brings strong analytical capability, with experience working across complex and sensitive datasets to strengthen reporting, improve risk visibility, and support informed decision-making in cyber security, privacy, and data-intensive environments.
Her broader technical background includes Python, SQL, AWS-based workflows, reporting systems, and applied work across software, privacy, and security-focused settings. She is particularly passionate about bridging research and practice through governance approaches that are practical, defensible, and capable of creating meaningful impact in real-world environments.
She joined WREN in 2024 and values it as a meaningful platform for connection, collaboration, and support within the STEM community. Beyond WREN, she serves as Vice President (Research) at the University of Wollongong Postgraduate Association (WUPA) and as Sponsorship Coordinator for Women in STEM (WiSTEM), reflecting her strong commitment to leadership, collaboration, and advocacy across research and STEM communities. She is dedicated to empowering the next generation of STEM leaders, particularly young women pursuing careers in science and technology, and is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for emerging researchers and professionals.
